About Peabody Wildlife Management Area
Peabody Wildlife Management Area is one of the largest public hunting areas in Kentucky, spread across reclaimed mine land in Hopkins, Muhlenberg and Ohio counties. Hunters come for deer, turkey, waterfowl, dove, rabbit and quail, and the area also draws anglers to its many ponds and lakes. Because it is public ground, the mornings start early and the days run long, and having a warm, dry place fifteen minutes away changes the whole hunt.
Camping near Peabody WMA
There is very little developed camping right at the WMA. Huggins Haven gives you a level gravel site with water and electric, a fire pit, a picnic table and a hot shower, open every month of the year. Park the truck and trailer, leave the camper set up for the season if you want, and hunt out of the same spot from early season through late season.
Built for hunters
Come and go on your own schedule. There is room for a truck, a trailer and gear, a place to clean up at the end of the day, and quiet sites with space between campers so nobody wakes you up at midnight. Groceries, fuel, ice and sporting goods are a short drive away in Madisonville, Central City and Greenville.
Nightly, weekly and season long rates
Nightly rates are $45 to $47. Weekly and 30 day rates are available for hunters staying through a season, with discounts for veterans, military, first responders, seniors and Good Sam members. Long term sites are available for hunters who want the same spot all season.
